Pastor Jennifer never expected to be a church planter! Even though she felt called into ministry as a teenager, she answered that call first as a teacher and then as a stay-at-home mom. Alongside her husband Chris, she was part of the launch team for a thriving church in St. Louis, where she grew in her love for Jesus and God’s Word. After a conversation with her pastor in 2010, she felt God leading her into full-time ministry. She’s an alumni of Asbury Theological Seminary and was ordained in the United Methodist Church in 2016. She served as Pastor of Mission and Outreach before moving to Cape Girardeau in 2020. It was her work with the under-resourced in her community that gave her a passion for helping connect the church to the community and the community to the church in tangible, impactful ways. When God began calling her to start a new church in Cape Girardeau, that’s the kind of church she wanted it to be!
Motivated by the deep, compelling love of God, she seeks to share that love with everyone she meets—whether it’s a neighbor next door, a person on the margins, or a mother she’s met in Honduras or Mozambique. Her passion lies in helping everyday people understand that they are valued, loved, and worthy of connection and grace – and that is the heartbeat of Compass.
