During Lent, we will be taking a break from “Long Story Short” to dive deeper into the crucifixion. The crucifixion of Jesus stands at the heart of the Christian faith, yet it raises profound questions that many believers grapple with: “Why did Jesus have to die?” “Did God need for Jesus to suffer?” “How does His death so long ago absolve us of our sins today?” If you’ve ever wondered about these questions, simply said “I believe in the crucifixion, I just don’t fully understand it,” or had questions about the significance of Jesus’ death, join us over the next five weeks as we seek to understand the meaning of the crucifixion.
Community leaders are continuing the work on establishing a sustainable community warming center. In the meantime, Grace will serve as a stand-in location, opening when temperatures are expected to drop below 27 degrees, or below 32 with precipitation. If you’re able, consider signing up for a 4 hour shift. Volunteers will be notified by 9:00 am that day if the shelter will be activated.
Compass Church is partnering with New McKendree United Methodist Church, along with 20 other churches and organizations to pack MannaPack meals that will be sent to hungry children in the U.S. and around the world.
